About
“I love glassblowing. To me the craft is as important as the art, so I spend as much time perfecting skill and technique as I do in the creative process. It’s an astoundingly versatile medium, and has an inherent music in it. Working with it in molten form is rhythmic… more of a dance than a process.”
Glass artist Michael McDougal lives and works in Texas. He co-built and maintains the open air Millspaugh Studio, located in the hill country north of San Antonio. His introduction to glass came through Jayne Duryea, protege of Robert Wilson, and he has since trained with his friend and mentor Jason Lawson. Michael has studied at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York and the prestigious Pilchuck Glass School in Washington State, as well as spending time in the "fornaces" of Murano, Italy. He has studied under Jane Bruce, Claire Kelly & Anthony Schafermeyer, and Boyd Sugiki.
In addition, Michael is a pianist, stocktrader, writer, and windsurfer
