About  | Bio

Sapphires, rubies and garnets are suspended in delicately woven, multi-layered silver coils, giving an impression of lightness and depth, in pieces defined by the careful craftsmanship of fine jewelry – no one article like any other, each formed through hundreds of singular movements for those who truly appreciate art and individuality. Silver filaments become intricate lace; a single ruby becomes the heart of a radiant starburst. Blue sapphires shimmer within an elegant enclosure, taking on the silhouette of a distinctive blossom.
From Bijoutique comes a sensibility that respects the past – the silver is meticulously finished to give it a warm, supple tone with a hint of antiquity – balanced with a modern, stylized sophistication. Born in Riga, Latvia, in 1978, Katerina Bogatireva grew up surrounded by one of the world’s most concentrated collections of Art Nouveau architecture, craning her neck as a child as she gazed up at buildings adorned with graceful patterns evoking stylized floral contours and mythological elements. Maybe it was inevitable that eventually she would re-interpret these designs for her own creative purposes, integrating them into distinctive collections of pendants, rings and earrings that re-imagine those architectural details in miniature. That child who once delighted in exploring the home workshop of her electrical-engineer father, emerging with handfuls of wire that she would twist into tiny umbrellas that opened and closed, now applies the same sense of fascination about materials and textures to her jewelry making.
``I’m not following fads and fashions but instead am letting my imagination and curiosity guide me. I don’t sketch my ideas, but instead let the natural weight and feel of the metal and stones determine the form and finish of my work’’ Katerina says: ``my hope is that some part of the joy I feel during this creative process is shared by those who wear these pieces.’’
