The son of a music teacher, Chico was born in Ludington, Michigan. His classical guitar teacher was the first to open his eyes to the arts of ceramics and glass blowing. In 1990, after high school he went to Europe to further his interest in glasswork with an attraction to work in Murano. Upon his 43-day bicycle journey to Italy, he happened upon an opportunity to apprentice for Peter Stauss at Glaskunst aus Hopfen. Through this studio, he established contact with many glass studios in Germany, Czechoslovakia and France.
 
In 1992, he continued his career by finding interest in the Bay Area, San Francisco working with many productions studios gaining skill and dexterity. In 1995 Chico returned to Europe and taught for the German glass school named Glashouse Wertheim. During this time he assembled a glass team that traveled throughout Europe giving glass blowing demonstrations in local schools and was hired by many famous glass artists to manufacture their work. Among these artists were Jean-Paul Raymond, Detlaf Tanz, Walter Bahr and Kurt Wahlstab.
 
1n 1999, Chico returned to the United States in order to establish his new business, Chico Art Glass, in Seattle, Washington. His works are greatly influenced by his years of education, experience, travel throughout and the people of Europe.
