View all of this artist's items Maria Hooper uses borosilicate glass to create each piece by melting and manipulating specially formulated colored glass rods over a gas oxygen flame. Hooper studied chemistry and biochemistry at the California Polytechnic State University and the University of Santa Clara. Born into a family of glass artists, Maria began lamp-working glass in 1974. She established her own studio in Atascadero, California in 1993 where she creates a very limited quantity of extraordinary mermaids, fairies and various other figures. Maria’s fascination with mythical creatures is her inspiration. |
